About Ariana Maubach

Praised as “a natural performer” with a “unique, magnetic instrument” (La Scena Musicale), Canadian mezzo-soprano Ariana Maubach is quickly gaining recognition as an artist on the rise. A 2025 National Semi-Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, she recently attended the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, singing Ragonde in Le comte Ory, and appeared with Opera Delaware as Hazel in the world premiere of Fearless by Derrick Wang.

In 2024, Ms. Maubach won First Prize in the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio Competition, leading to her appointment to the Canadian Opera Company’s Ensemble Studio for the 2025-2026 season. There, she sings Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia and appears in the ensemble performance as Rosina. She also covers Stephano (Roméo et Juliette), Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), and Katchen (Werther). Additional engagements include her debut with Chorus Niagara as the alto soloist in Mozart’s Requiem and a return to Merola in summer 2026 as the title role in La tragédie de Carmen.

Ariana is a recent graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, PA, where her assignments included Marthe in Faust, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Smeton in Anna Bolena, Bianca in The Rape of Lucretia, and Berta in Il barbiere di Sivigila. In 2023, Ms. Maubach made her professional debut singing Linette in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges at Des Moines Metro Opera. Other highlights include Madame in a workshop of Bulrusher with Cincinnati Opera Fusion, La bohème with the Spoleto Festival, and Eugene Onegin at Music Academy of the West.

Ms. Maubach earned her Bachelor of Music in Voice with Distinction from The Eastman School of Music, and a Master of Music from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. While at CCM, Ms. Maubach sang the roles of Mère Marie in Dialogues des Carmélites and Dorothée in L’amant anonyme.

"Her 'Una voce poco fa' had precise coloratura passages and some unexpected, but beautiful, choices in ornamentation. She is captivating onstage, commanding the audience’s attention at all times… This is an emerging Canadian talent who could have a serious career ahead of her."
